10/01/2016 8:00pm 10/01/2016 11:00pm After Pop Life Closing Party

Join us for the glamorous conclusion of the Prince-inspired exhibition and event series curated by Glen Helfand, After Pop Life, will be an evening of opulent visuals, Prince-inspired fashion, karaoke, and dancing in the atrium of the fittingly titled Minnesota Street Project.

In addition to the final viewing of works by nearly 40 visual artists, Bay Area-based artist collaborative, Bonanza, working with Marco Garcia and Maria Guzman Capron, will stage 23 Positions in a One Night Stand, a BNNZA fashion performance. Inspired by Prince’s notorious 1991 MTV Music Awards performance of the song Gett Off, the show will feature 23 models wearing 23 Prince-inspired looks, engaging in fierce posturing and durational performances that will activate the oak bleachers and DJ Siobhan Aluvalot will accent a full-on dance party. The musical spirit of Prince will be conjured in a live set by Oakland’s own XUXA SANTAMARIA (Sófia Cordova and Matt Kirkland).

The event will also feature extended access to Jenifer Wofford’s Dearly Beloved Karaoke Chapel, a glittery photo op by Torreya Cummings, projections by Josh Stulen, and purple snacks curated by O.M. France. Thematically fitting swag will be available for purchase.

The exhibition includes works by: Sadie Barnette, Paulina Bercynski, Libby Black, Rebeca Bollinger, Bonanza, Luke Butler, Maria Guzman Capron, Veronica de Jesus, Didi Dunphy, O.M. France, James Gobel, Daniel Green, Rachel Harrison, Cliff Hengst, Scott Hewicker, David Huffman, Geoff Kaplan/General Working Group, Laura Hyunjhee Kim, Jason Lazarus, Rodney McMillian, Kori Newkirk, Adam Novak, Jennie Ottinger, Erika Ranee, Rex Ray, Yukari Sakura, XUXA SANTAMARIA (Sófia Cordova and Matt Kirkland), William Scott, Tamra Seal, Jenny Sharaf, Wayne Smith, Sarah Thibault, Lava Thomas, Gina Tuzzi, Anne Walsh, Jenifer Wofford, and Marilyn Wong.
