INSTITUTE OF advanced UNCERTAINTY is pleased to present HANDED DOWN, a double residency + exhibition featuring Misha Zehra Abbas and Esther Elia. Alongside textile examples from their individual practice on view, the pair are engaged in a collaborative weaving project using hand-dyed yarn and a loom produced by the artists. Organized by Kathy Zarur. On view in Gallery 211 through August 17th, and with three upcoming public events:

COMMUNITY DINNER | Saturday, August 10 | 3 – 6 pm | MSP Lounge: Abbas and Elia invite you to gather in community and share a meal of Pakistani aloo gobi, pakoras and Assyrian dolmas. “Bring a story of your family history and share foods that represent ours.”

TEA TUESDAY | August 13 | 12 – 3 pm | Gallery 211: Artists Abbas and Elia invite the public to come by for a glass of tea and to witness their unique collaborative engagement, the weaving of threads, cultures and histories, and the development of an artistic relationship.

ARTIST TALK | Thursday, August 15 | 4 – 6 pm | Gallery 211: Kathy Zarur, organizer of HANDED DOWN, in conversation with Abbas and Elia about their double residency and collaborative work.
