Artist reception: Saturday August 5th | 6-8pm

Wrapping up the summer season at Themes+Projects gallery is “Line + Form” by San Francisco artists Windy Chien and Len Carella. This two person exhibition contains new work by both artists, as well as a few collaborative pieces.

Windy Chien is best known for her 2016 project, “The Year Of Knots,” in which she learned a new knot every day for a year. This installation will be on view for the first time since its completion in late 2016.  Windy Chien use of “line,” makes art that activates space and crafts objects that elevate the daily rituals of life.

Len Carella started working with ceramics in 1998 at Parsons School of Design in New York city. Over the years, his work has been seen at Williamsburg Art & Historical Center, Brooklyn; Fog Art & Design Fair, San Francisco; and The American Museum of Ceramic Art, Pomona.  In his work, he explores “form,” to create beautiful vessels made from stoneware and porcelain. For the exhibition, Len challenges himself by creating new pieces that fit together to occupy large spaces.
