1275 Minnesota St / Themes + Projects

Themes+Projects gallery presents Cielo Mare Tierra by Tom Sandonato. Inspired from his recent travels to Italy, Mexico, and the American West, Cielo Mare Tierra references the sky, sea, and land. Artwork in this new series continues Tom's exploration between diffused light and color, and is derived from his observations on how light interacts with the changing elements of the landscape. The artwork is created by utilizing reclaimed raw building materials, such as crates, pallets, hardware, and paired with the slickness of mirrored acrylic plexiglass panels. The usage of mirrors, combined with sanded clear acrylic panels, allow the ambient light to reflect within the artwork. Pieces vary in scale from 12 x 12 inches to 56 x 100 inches.

Cielo Mare Tierra is Tom's third exhibition with Themes+Projects, following his Obscured (2019) and Passages (2017) exhibitions.
