1275 Minnesota St / Anglim / Trimble Gallery

Saturday, April 1 | Artists' Reception, 4:00–7:00 pm.

In celebration of Women’s History Month, Anglim/Trimble announces XX: An exhibition of women artists. The exhibition includes Kim Anno, Joan Brown, Kathleen Henderson, Mildred Howard, Kara Maria, Grace Munakata, Katherine Sherwood, M. Louise Stanley, Pamela Helena Wilson, and Arngunnur Ýr.

Paintings, drawings, and mixed-media works come together to address a breadth of issues: the climate crisis and existential concerns for humanity’s survival, the continued discrimination toward Black and Brown Americans, misogyny and the recognition of female representation. Mildred Howard’s trio of mixed-media wall pieces combine found and archival family photos to posit the Black experience in the United States. Katherine Sherwood shines a light on Baroque female painters, while Kara Maria’s painting features the endangered Ohlone tiger beetle. Through abstraction and stylized figures, humor and reverence, these artists tell stories, illustrate observations, and convey a range of emotions.
