Bessma Khalaf opens her showcase “When I See You” at Makaan this Saturday, July 11th from 2-6.
Within the mediums of photography, video, sculpture, and performance, Bessma Khalaf explores the boundaries of landscape and image by employing diametric practices of degradation and relational co-creation. The work, vacillating between extremes, is the artist’s effort to situate herself between the present and memories of her childhood in war-torn Iraq.
