Join us for an artist conversation between Sholeh Asgary and Lewis deSoto. This event is in collaboration between Incline Gallery and Minnesota Street Project.
Asgary is an interdisciplinary sound artist whose first solo exhibition on the West Coast, ALBEDO, is currently exhibited by Incline Gallery. ALBEDO uses radio waves, fluorescent light tubes, and water as mediums that situate the site's history as a portal to explore relationships between interment and frequency. deSoto is an artist known for his installations, sculpture, photography, writing, and public art that engages cosmological questions, notions of self, and plays with inherent phenomena.
For this occasion, Asgary and deSoto will engage in a conversation that explores how artists unpack their work after its creation. This process and dialogue reflect upon the space between artwork and language and directly relate to ALBEDO and each artists' respective works.
Live real-time visuals of the exhibition, and related artworks will accompany the conversation. Attendees are encouraged to view ALBEDO prior to the event.
Support for this event is provided by Southern Exposure’s Alternative Exposure Grant Program. Incline Gallery was honored to be selected as one of the grantees in Round 13 of the Grant, back in the fall of 2019. Incline Gallery’s vision for this grant is to support emerging artists by giving them a solo exhibition and an opportunity to partner up with other organizations in the Bay Area art community.
ALBEDO is on view at Incline Gallery through June 25, 2022. Open Saturday and Sundays from 1-5 pm or by appointment.
