Christie’s Auction House will be exhibiting highlights from its major auctions of 20th Century art taking place this May in New York. Works on view will include a vibrant 1963 portrait by Wayne Thiebaud, Eating Figures (Quick Snack), from The Robert B. and Beatrice C. Mayer Family Collection. The painting expects to achieve $4-6 million, making it one of the most valuable paintings by the artist ever offered at auction. Additional Post-War and Contemporary highlights on view include exceptional works by Richard Diebenkorn, Willem de Kooning, Joan Mitchell, and Jonas Wood. The Impressionist and Modern Art selection will be comprised of pivotal examples by Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Claude Monet.  Also being exhibited April 23-24 is Luca Pacioli’s Summa de arithmetica, which codified the mathematical foundations of our modern and technological world. This rare and extraordinary book will be sold at Christie’s New York on June 12th in a Fine Books and Manuscripts auction.
