Jack Fischer Gallery is pleased to present atmospheric disruptions, the paintings of Kirstine Reiner Hansen and Lisa Golightly. This is a two person show of landscapes and portrait observations painted from two very different points of view. Both artists arrive at similar places of emotionally charged scenes/ vignettes that, in Hansen’s paintings, explore the surreal with the sure hand of Old Masters, coupled with expressionistic touches. We identify with the sitters in these portraits, even though it’s a somewhat discomfiting frontal gaze. Hansen’s current work continues to evoke the earlier work that is informed by a collagist’s sensibility. We are jarred and disturbed by the staccato rhythms of the colors and shapes. It’s this that adds to the disruptive aspects of the imagery and therefore our own discomfort as the tonal fields begin to break up.
