Rooted in the belief that candid speech is essential to an open and free society,
Truthtellers brings together a group of artists who dare speak truth to power. Their
unique perspectives shed light on systemic rifts, injustices, and fissures in the
collective imagination. The works on view expose obscured narratives and challenge
paradigms that often go unquestioned or unnoticed. Here, direct and indirect forms of
telling take place, from action-based interactions to contemplative, and sometimes
playful works, many of which are deeply personal.

The artists in this exhibition are makers, mentors, disruptors, and community builders,
facilitating transformation through socially engaged approaches. Many are also
involved in the radical vocation of arts education – illuminating paths toward
understanding and change. In this urgent moment, their acts of art-making inspire us to
reimagine the status quo. Varied in material use and creative tactics, they empower
others to seek their own personal truths.

Works are for sale, with proceeds benefiting San Francisco Arts Education Project’s
programs and artists in equal measure.
