James Chronister
James Chronister earned his MFA in 2004 from the California College of the Arts in San Francisco where he was awarded the Richard K. Price Painting Award. In 2010 Chronister was nominated for the SECA Award by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. In 2013 Chronister was awarded the Artist-In-Residence at the Lux Art Institute which was accompanied by a survey exhibition of his work from the years 2009-2013. Chronister has exhibited work in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, Oakland and Minneapolis and is in numerous private collections throughout the United States as well as the Berkeley Art Museum. Continually challenging the parameters of his studio practice, Chronisterʼs paintings have ranged in style from photorealism to large-scale abstraction. Currently a Charter Artist in the Minnesota Street Projects Artist Studio Program, the artist lives and works in San Francisco, California and is represented by Eleanor Harwood Gallery in San Francisco.
