"Dok-kan, a farsi word we use in Egypt for a small shack/shop, that sells random stuff. You typically wouldn’t call a gallery a Dok-kan, but my dad would jokingly say: I will go open the
Dok-kan. But also, because his shop was not a fancy gallery.
In the last years, since he passed away, I have been bringing back broken pieces from his shop, without really having a plan. Dok-kan is the first iteration of many to make sense and re-frame the broken pieces of an object, a story and a place.
I ask: what is precious and what is not?"
