Themes+Projects is pleased to present "Paul's Drawings," an exhibition of drawings by Paul Pickrel (1917–2014), in Annex Gallery #211 at the Minnesota Street Project.
Drawn from more than forty sketchbooks created between 1972 through 1992, the exhibition features fifty figure and portrait studies selected from an archive of over five hundred original drawings. Though best known for his distinguished academic career at Yale University and Smith College, Pickrel maintained a lifelong drawing practice, quietly documenting the people around him with remarkable sensitivity and insight.
Curated by his great-nephew Bryan Yedinak, "Paul's Drawings" marks the first public presentation of these works, revealing an intimate body of drawings shaped by observation, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for human character.
Exhibition on view: August 1–29, 2026
Opening reception: Saturday, August 8, 4–7pm
