[Lonesome Station] presents Magic Magic Roses and Cindy at Minnesota Street Project lounge.
Magic Magic Roses make dreamy, meditative folk music in California's Bay Area. In 2008, Kate Sweeney and Sarah Simon got together to play some Jimmie Rodgers covers and quickly began collaborating on original songs. The band's first album, "The Living Room", was recorded on a four-track in Sarah's living room and self-released on cassette tape in 2010. Sam Berman joined on drums in the spring of 2011 and the trio released their second album, "Valley", in 2012. Their third album, "Dusk", was released in summer 2016 on Plume Records, and in the fall of 2019 the group released a two-song EP called "River."
Cindy is a San Francisco band, formed in 2016 when Karina started writing songs, was overheard by her housemate and drummer, Simon, and then met Jesse (bass) in line at a neighborhood grocery store. Aaron on synth and omnichord joined December of 2018, and Cindy released their first and self-titled record in January 2019. Cindy's songs attempt to tie the abandon of pop to the weight of folk and the dark humor of rock. They are working on their next record, to be released in the spring of 2020.
