Ambrose Trataris
Ambrose Trataris is a queer non-binary conceptual artist, curator, and art worker based in the Bay Area. They use sculpture, installation, and performance to embody social boundaries meant to govern our identity, sense of worth, and communal relations. Trataris received their Master of Fine Arts degree from the San Francisco Art Institute, and Bachelor of Fine Art degree from San Diego State University. In 2015 they were a recipient of the Murphy and Cadogan Contemporary Art Award. Their work has been shown at Walter & McBean Galleries (San Francisco, CA), The Growlery (San Francisco, CA), CCA Hubbell Street Galleries (San Francisco, CA), Incline Gallery (San Francisco, CA), NOSPACE (Oakland, CA), Embark Gallery (San Francisco, CA), and SOMArts (San Francisco, CA). Trataris is the founder of Unrestricted Funds and co-founder of Art Handlxrs* and R/SF projects (2016-2019). Through their work, they are dedicated to creating partnerships with institutions to develop lasting changes for racial and social equity and currently work as the Development Director at CounterPulse.
